1445 K St - The Nebraska State Capitol, constructed from 1922 to 1932
at a cost of $10 million, is described by architects and historians
as the nation's first truly vernacular state capitol. Seen from miles
away, the building's majestic four hundred foot domed tower and low
spreading base contain exterior and interior artwork representing the
natural, social and political development of the state of Nebraska.
The 14th floor observation deck is open, weather permitting. Mon-Fri,
8am-5pm; Sat, 10am-5pm; Sun, 1-5pm. Closed Thanksgiving and day after,
Christmas & New Year's Day. Tours on the hour: Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm,
except noon; Sat, 10am-4pm, except noon; Sun, 1-4pm. Free. 402-471-0448

management museum and nearby geologic display. Picnic area and hiking

Day-Memorial Day weekend, closed Tue and holidays. Admission: $1 adults,

Creek Prairie Audubon Center

11700 S.W. 100th St, 3 mi. S. of Denton on 98th St - Includes 808 acres
of rare native tallgrass prairie, springs, wetlands, ponds, streams,
interesting geology and ancient bur oak woodlands. Connections to our
pioneer heritage are illustrated by wagon ruts from the Nebraska City/Fort
Kearny Cutoff to the Oregon Trail. Site listed on National Register.
